Perfect for new plot establishment, shady areas, logging roads and no till planting.
Hot Chic is a hardy mixture of pH tolerant cold season perennials designed to last several years while providing nutrient rich forage for your deer and turkey. Featuring a premium variety of chicory and two varieties of clover, Hot Chic delivers highly attractive, high protein forage with the ability to tolerate acidic soils, withstand drought and crowd out potential weed competition.
This mix is an excellent choice for establishing a brand new food plot location and is best maintained through proper fertilization and periodic mowing. Hot Chic sets itself apart with its ability to handle southern heat and northern cold, all while consistently producing premium levels of nutritious forage your herd can depend on. If you are looking for one perennial that can perform almost anywhere, Hot Chic is a must have on every hunting property.
Hot Chic is also one of our favorite perennial mixes for winter and early spring frost seeding, which can be an extremely effective way to naturally establish long term perennials.
It has become one of our most popular options for shady backwoods areas and logging roads because of its excellent shade tolerance, longevity and ease of maintenance. In areas with heavier shade, we recommend planting in early spring to allow plants to develop strong roots and stems before the canopy closes.
